About Josie Silver Linings
Josie Silver Linings was founded in 2023 by Casey and Janette Schwendeman, inspired by their journey through the unimaginable: pediatric cancer.
On November 17, 2021, their lives changed forever when they heard the words no parent ever wants to hear: “Your child has cancer.” Their youngest daughter, Josie, was diagnosed with pediatric leukemia at just over 2 months old. With only a 35% chance of survival, Josie’s battle unfolded during a global pandemic, requiring her family to endure 10 months in the hospital.
At the time, Josie’s siblings, Kinley (7) and Caden (4), faced the challenges alongside their parents. Surrounded by fear and uncertainty, the family discovered “silver linings”—reminders of God’s presence, faithfulness, and the kindness of others. Rainbows became their symbol of unexpected blessings and inner strength.
On October 30, 2023, Josie relapsed at the age of 2. This time, her brother Caden, now 6, became her hero by donating bone marrow for a life-saving transplant. Today, Josie is 3 years old and approaching her one-year remission milestone on January 25, 2025—a joyous testament to her resilience as a young warrior.
